Event marketing is always tough, but especially in the ultra-competitive space of Food & Wine Festivals and Pop-Ups. By nature, events are tricky since there is little wiggle room for error…the event is happening on a given date, so unless the tickets are sold before then, there is no chance for retargeting, loyalty campaigns, etc.
Traditionally, this foodie event relied on social media influencers and online PR. Influencers were becoming increasingly costly, and unpredictable – a certain chef may be in vogue one week, and the next half of their followers disappear. They needed a consisted of systems for selling out events as far out in advance as possible.
The promoters needed to sell out 650 VIP tickets for an event happening in March – a 4 month lead time.
Not even a month later, I had sold out all VIP packages to the event and netted them $39,209.88 in revenue.
For every $1 they gave me, I made them back $5.02.
